今日は『あおぞら』という椎名林檎の歌を聴きながら勉強しました。

新しい単語

聴く vs 聞く: 聴く is more about intently listening to somebody or something
独りで vs 一人で: 独りで emphasizes the being lonely in life (*and sometimes it means simply "by oneself") 

孤独な （こどく） loneliness (*it's noun) 

独身（どくしん）person who is single (I think PERSON who is single is 独身の人/ 独身者)

飾る（かざる） to decorate

飾らない - Can also be used to describe a very honest person, like in this line on the song 本当の自分に正直で飾らないあたしで

映す（うつす）　to reflect, to project e.g. 写真を写す（しゃしんをうつす)  
映る（うつる） To be reflected e.g. 自分の姿を鏡にうつして見なさい。

*I think 写真を写す = 写真を撮る = to take photos

うつして見なさい is from 映す, not from 映る. (Ex. 鏡に映る自分の姿を見る。
東北（とうほく）North east, also the northern most prefecture in 本州
相性が良い - "chemistry", compatibility, used for partners or couples (and also friends, pets, for all relationships.) 
相性が合う - compatibility, for two persons (I would say 気が合う.) 

食材（しょくざい）Ingredient (for cooking)
中東（ちゅうとう） - middle east, or middle level
落ち着く（おちつく）- calm down, feel at home
耳鳴り（みみなり） - ringing in the ear
鳴ります（なります） - to sound, to ring e.g. 電話が鳴ります
鳴きます（なきます） - to chirp (as in a bird), cry for animal e.g. 猫が鳴きます
泣きます（なきます） - to cry e.g. 子供が泣きます
