I Quit Facebook Facebook is usually described as a tool to connect people, but recently I found it is emotionally separating my old friend and me. I found myself became less tolerant with my old friend after reading their posts that showed some characteristics or thoughts I didn't like. Also, I found myself waste too much time on Facebook while I regarded it as my obligation to follow all the post from my friend, even I actually thought those posts were lacking of creativity, originality and innovation, e.g., the photo of restaurant food and selfie of two big head apparently showed that someone was in love. That really made my mind to quit Facebook. At first, it was never easy for me since I already built the habit to scroll FB on the phone or laptop all the time. Therefore, I took some forceful action to reduce the time I spend on it. I deleted my FB app on the phone, so every time I want to use it, I have to open safari and press my account and password. Then, I took a diversionary tactic by downloading Wordpress and followed some blog as an alternative. When I want to take rest and read something, I will persuade myself to read some article from these blogs. It still spends time, but at least I can broaden horizons by reading some elegant writing and new thoughts to me. If I want to share and post something in my mind, I will just open the italki page and write it down in English, so I will get another chance to practice English and communicate with the world! It is a very good beginning and I will stick it out! Who has begun has half done. Have the courage to be wise. Begin! -- HORACE, Epistles

I Quit Facebook

Facebook is usually described as a tool to connect people, but recently I found it is emotionally separating my old friend and me. I found myself becaming less tolerant with my old friend after reading his/her posts that showed some characteristics or thoughts I didn't like. Also, I found myself wasting too much time on Facebook while I regarded it as my obligation to follow all the post from my friend, even I actually thought those posts were lacking of creativity, originality and innovation, e.g., the photo of restaurant food and selfie of two big head apparently showed that someone was in love. That really made my mind to quit Facebook.

At first, it was never easy for me since I already built the habit to scrolling FB on the phone or laptop all the time. Therefore, I took some forceful action to reduce the time I used to spend on it. I deleted my FB app on the phone, so every time I want to use it, I have to open safari and press my account and password. Then, I took a diversionary tactic by downloading Wordpress and followed some blog as an alternative. When I want to take rest and read something, I will persuade myself to read some article from these blogs. It still takes time, but at least I can broaden horizons by reading some elegant writing and new thoughts to me. If I want to share and post something from my mind, I will just open the italki page and write it down in English, so I will get another chance to practice English and communicate with the world!

It is a very good beginning and I will stick it out!

Very wise! I think many people are addicted, and hopefully you saved your friendship by doing this.
