(these two sentences have the same meaning. Only the structural variation.)
(What is the thing that causes the development of people's emotional pain?)

We do not use "jinmin" often in our daily life except in political converstaions. This is usually a literary expression.

Since "kokoro no kizu" is a "negative circumstance",  as a natural Japanese expression, "akka" will be a better expression than "hatten" in this case.

(Is it people's self-centeredness?)

(To me it is.)

なぜですか?(a more matured expression/polite)
(Why?)

(Why do we hurt each other?)

(I do not understand。I do not know.)

(To me, people are the thing I care for。)

("kawaigaru" is used for children and animals)

(But, I am just like people.)

(People are the thing I hurt.)

(other expressions you can use.)
(Dad. Mom. Everyone.)

(Forgive me.)

(I am doing my best.)

Is this a part of the dialog which you took from somewhere or you simply created? It will be phylosophical minds and a very challenging composition/translation. Well done!
