CINDER-ELLA
CINDER-ELLA
There was once a rich soldier, who had a daughter called Ella. Her mother was very kind to her; and she often bought her nice dresses for her kindness.
A few years passed away, and Ella’s mother died, now Ella’s father had to use his money to get some rich food. After that, they all heard that the news was reporting that the king was about to be killed. Ella’s father wrote out a letter to the king and said that in all his life saying that this would be his last war with the other men, that he would give his life for his king. Once the war started, the king looked at Ella's father with sparkling eyes, because if her father won the battle, then the king would be saved. The battle ended and Ella’s father won, but he was badly hurt; the doctors tried to save him with an operation; but without success. They used the X-ray to check every part of the soldier’s body, and found out that his heart was already gone.
After Ella found this out, she reported to the king at a grand ball at the hall in the castle. The king also wrote to Ella that she should live with her step mother and step sisters; they often teased her and pinched her with their fingers; and called her Cinderella, and did all sorts of other bad things to her. They told her to do all the chores, and told her to help her do their homework. Sometimes they showed her some ugly faces. Once Cinderella’s invitation to the ball was printed out, the king’s servant ordered his soldiers to post them on everything they found, except on things that were alive; so off they went to post the invitations. Once they had been posted, Cinderella’s fairy godmother came and changed her into a perfect-looking princess with a coach with sparkles.
Cinderella rode it off to the ball without her stepsisters, and took their dresses and slippers, along with their car. The stepsisters were very annoyed and started out to the ball with their mother. After they arrived they found the prince dancing with Cinderella; they went with their dirty hands to dance with the prince, but the prince said no, and so they pushed Cinderella and the prince down. Now Cinderella and the prince were badly hurt. Soon after they were all better, the king died and so did the queen. Now the stepmother and the stepsisters were all locked up in jail, and Cinderella was chosen to be the queen and the handsome prince was chosen to be the king.
Very good, little Lulu! You know, "cinder" means a piece of burnt wood, or wood made of ashes. 灰姑娘 in Chinese, Cenicienta in Spanish - ceniza means ash. Aschenputtel in German.
"ella" is a suffix, sometimes attached to names or other words, called a diminutive. It makes the word smaller, like saying 小王 in Chinese. The Spanish use the diminutive -ito or -ico a lot. If I wanted to say 小禄禄 in Spanish I would say Lulita.
