Halo

Lets say for all language you have to build your sentence using the language.

English have a grammar so you will build your sentence in english instead ot translating.

you start by translating the important rootword like  nasi:rice makan:eat warung:restaurant

teman:friend saya:I

Now you build your sentence in english.

Grammar tells: Subject-Verb-Object so : I eat rice.... ( I eat at the restaurant...  I eat with friends....)  Basic sentences

Now you add complements to build your complete sentence.

I eat rice at the restaurant with my friends.

Thats how we all build or sentences using our grammar.

I would have explained much better in french but that is the way.

English have 3 forms of sentence affirmation, interogation and negation !

Interrogative : Do (for verbs apart aux like to be, to have or can) +subject+ .....+?

example: Do you like it ? are you ready, can  you come now....

Negative: subject+don't (do not, apart aux verb like to be to have can ....)+.....

I don't go, he doesn't like too much hot food...

:)

Whenever you are frustrated with your grammar, just remember that many Americans cannot even speak with correct English grammar :) My friends and I often talk about how hopeless we would all be if we had to learn English as a second language as it has many rules that make little sense sometimes. Just from reading some of your journal entries, it looks like you have learned quite a lot! Keep on practicing and speaking English will feel more and more natural every day.

Actually, I'm quite impressed. Until I looked at your profile, I imagined that you were a native speaker of some European language, like French.
