synopsis SYNOPSIS PREFACE I explain the reasons because I propose a new spelling for English. 1 - AN AGE-OLD PROBLEM I explain briefly why English spelling is so complicated and inconsistent. 2 - PROPOSAL FOR A NEW SPELLING I explain which kind of spelling I propose (a phonemic spelling) and how I developed it. 3 - FUNCTION WORDS I explain which weak forms of the function words must be used in the new spelling. 4 - ARTHUR THE RAT To illustrate my new spelling I quote “Arthur the rat” which contains all the English phonemes. 5 - TEN COMMON OBJECTIONS I try to refute ten common objections against a phonemic spelling. 6 - ENGLISH AS A GLOBAL LANGUAGE?
