Chitchat- replying to my language-learning partner's question For each of the roles in these cases above, I would say, “Cherish yourself and then you could can respect everyone else's life!” (<--你這裡究竟想表達什麼意思呢？) Originally, due to just chitchat, I didn’t want to say too much from my viewpoint. However, in order to respond the point of『身體髮膚，受之父母，不可毀傷』, I would like to remind the young people with thought of their own safety before taking any action. Even each of us should remember the Chinese proverb when we join any activities or make any decisions. So, cherish yourself! I also tried to offer others an access to the further thoughts on these matters by my remarks, “Cherish yourself and then you can respect everyone else's life!” That means if everyone could sense that each individual in the world is born and brought up by parents as well as being cherished just like you are treated by the parents(人生父母養), then you would respect life itself and treat others’ life as you value yourself. If the sponsor and host, even the government, could take this activity and everyone’s life seriously, there would be more sound and efficient precautions and this disaster wouldn’t happen. Clint Smith mentioned an educator’s words in his speech, “No one can be authentically human while he prevents others from being so.” And I would say, “Everyone should know how to value himself before being treated with respect, 人須自重，人恆重之”(original words: 人必自重而後人重之；自重者，人恆重之) I’m gratified by the kids on the video realizing the necessity of cherishing themselves.
