Chavacano: one of the dialects in the Philippines that is very similar to spanish. English: What is you name? Chavacano: Cosa de tu nombre? English: How are you? Chavacano: Quetal tu? I grew up in Zamboanga City, located at the southern part of the Philippines. And chavacano is my native tongue. The reason behind it's very similar to spanish simply beacuse Spaniards once conquered the Philippines. And amongst all the provinces and cities in the country, only the Zamboangueños (people living in zamboanga) who deliberately embraced the foreign invaders, including their language. However, as time passes by, the language was passed from generations to generations and was eventually corrupted and mixed up with other local dialects making it no longer spanish but more of a chavacano.
