How to come up with unusual ideas? I am studying for the FCE (First Certificate in English). I have a book which has 6 tests simulating the exam. In the Writing Part, I find very hard because you have to write some essays and most of them are very difficult to come up with. The proposed topics are very unusual, you have to have ready-made ideas in your mind. I'm so sad to realize that it may not be the right level for mel =( e.g. Shop assistants wanted for summer work. We require shop assistants to work with English- Speaking customers in our departament. Write to Emma Murphy saying which department interests you : Fashion, Music and Electronic Equipment. I would choose music as my favorite area, but how to write an essay in 140-190 words about this? The other one is about what clothes will look like in 100 year's time. I swear it would be almost impossible for me to describe this, even in my oficial language. Perhaps I am a bit ignorant....

<em>Você não é ignorante. Até falantes nativos teriam problemas com perguntas assim. Esse tipo de exames tem que ser "hackeados". Ou seja, tem que encontrar padrões entre respostas consideradas corretas e aí tentar imitar as estruturas gramaticais e linguísticas.</em>

I think you can explain why music is important to you, why you enjoy it, and what it means to you in your everyday life. For example give some examples of how music helps you with your feelings, and what situations you would choose to listen to music.Then you would say that you can use your feelings to advise others about music they want to buy in the store. 150 words is only about 15 lines, it is not so much. Regarding clothes in the future, it is important to use your imagination.Remember they are not marking your ideas but your use of language- vocabulary and structures, and correct grammar.
