Daily Life in Argentina - Go To a College When you finish high school in Argentina, commonly you have to choose where you are goint to go to continue your studies. If you have lucky (and money) you will probably go to La Plata, Cordoba, Buenos Aires or Tandil. These places are the most popular places to go to study in Argentina. The most important colleges in Argentina are free, yes free, you dont have to pay to study there. But of course there are a lot of students that want to study there, so if you want to get a place in these colleges you have to aprove a exam wich is called "Examen de Ingreso". Well as I said you have to move to one of this cities, so some students rent a flat, and others find a room in one "students recidency". I really like my students period because I met a lot of people from all over Argentina, that came to study. Well the first day I think are the worst because you move to a new city and maybe you dont meet nobody, you sometime you starting to miss. But the following days maybe you was meeting new friends. We have to periods of holidays here according the seassons, one is "Winter Holidays" from July to August and the other one is "Summer Holidays" from December to March. Before holidays start its commonly that exams happens, so you have to pass two exams to aprove a classmate, and sometimes you have te pass a third exam called "final exam". Here in argentina we use the word "carrera" to talk about career. "Carrera" in spanish has other meanings like "race", and I think sometimes its true its like a race, because there are a lot of people that starting one career but maybe not everybody finish it. And maybe some people finish first and others finish them. But I think the most important its not to run, I think we have to enjoy this period of our life. Because you only have to take care about study, not to work, just study. This is what my grandparent said. These is a period when besides to get a degree you met a lot of people but maybe finally you only made two or three friends, and maybe you met you wife. And what about you? Was you "college period" a big moment in your life? See you!
