MERS Epidemic in Korea According to the World Health Organization, a local government is recommended to make an official announcement of an end of an epidemic outbreak, at least 28 days (twice the incubation period) after the lastly confirmed patient recovers from the disease and tests negative. Now that 2 out of remaining 17 patients are tested positive from MERs, or the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, it seems quite obvious that Korean government should wait until mid-August to the earliest in order to put an end to this MERS epidemic. However, Korean government is rushing through with the declaration that MERS epidemic is practically over citing the reason that no new cases have been reported for 16 straight days. Currently, the government is reviewing the possibility to make a preliminarily announcement of the end of MERS epidemic on August 2, when the 28th days after no new further confirmed patient falls on. Later, an official secondary announcement will be followed in accordance with the recommendation of World Health Organization. South Korean government has been widely accused of refusing to make public the name of the hospitals that initially treated MERs patients allowing more patients to contract the virus with a reason that it might foster more public concerns. Now the government has put together a $19 billion fiscal stimulus plan, much of which is designed to support companies hurt by the MERS crisis and lure back the Chinese tourists who were scared away from the virus.

According to the World Health Organization, a local governments is are recommended to make an the official announcement of an denoting the end of an epidemic outbreak at least no less than 28 days (twice the incubation period) after the lastly confirmed patient recovers from the disease and tests negative for it. Now that Since 2 out of the remaining 17 patients are still testing positive from for MERs, or the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, it seems quite obvious that the Korean government should wait until mid-August to at the earliest in order to put an announce the end to of this MERS epidemic.

However, the Korean government is rushing through with the declaration that MERS epidemic is practically over, citing the reason that no new cases have been reported for 16 straight consecutive days. Currently, the government is reviewing the possibility to of making a preliminarily announcement of the end of the MERS epidemic on August 2, when the 28th days after the last no new further confirmed patient falls on. Later, an official secondary announcement will be followed in accordance with the recommendation of the World Health Organization.

South Korean government has been widely accused of refusing to make public the names of the hospitals that initially treated MERs patients: allowing more patients to contract the virus with the reasoning that it might foster more public concerns. Now the government has put together a $19 billion fiscal stimulus plan, much of which is designed set aside to support companies hurt by the MERS crisis and lure back the Chinese tourists who were scared away from by the virus.

Notes:

“At least” makes it seem like the government should make the announcement less than 28 days after the last patient.

If you want to use “at least”, you should say: “local governments are recommended to wait at least…..before making….”

Lastly is only used if you are arguing many points.

“Now that” has a meaning that something has changed. You could use “now that” if all of the patients had finally tested negative for MERs.

The government does not “end” an epidemic, the just announce the epidemic has ended.

If you use “citing” you normally don’t need to use “the reason”. You would write “with the reasoning that…”

The “when the 28th….” Sentence is just really awkward. It would be difficult to explain exactly why it is wrong, but if you are confused let me know and I will.

The money in the plan is “set aside”, not “designed”. The plan is “designed”, but if you use “much of which”, it has the nuance that you are talking about the money, not the plan.
