The first time I spoke English I've been studying English for a long time. Whereas I'm very shy I always studied with books, because the thought of talking with an unknown person scared me. Actually I have the possibility to practice with a relative, but I didn't want to be judged for my pronunciation. Suddenly I said to myself: "Do not be a coward!". I understood that it's normal to make mistakes while learning something. The first time that I had a real conversation in English was not so terrifying! At the beginning was very strange, but after some minutes I saw that it was quite easy. Yes, I did mistakes, but I felt good in the same time, because I was doing what I most like and with a person who helped me.

The first time I spoke English

I've been studying English for a long time. Whereas (Due to the fact that) I'm very shy I have always studied with books, because the thought of talking with an unknown person scared me. Actually I have the possibility to practice with a relative, but I didn't want to be judged for on my pronunciation.
Suddenly I said to myself: "Do not be a coward!". I understood (Try using the present tense: I understandthat it's normal to make mistakes while learning something.
The first time that I had a real conversation in English was not so terrifying! At the beginning it was very strange, but after some minutes I saw that it was quite easy. Yes, I did make mistakes, but I felt good in at the same time, because I was doing what I most like liked most and with a person who helped me was willing to help me.

I made some corrections like changing "Whereas" and "for" because it sound a little awkward. But you did a great job on this piece. Very good!

I was very shy to talk English . Then I started to speak with my foreign italki friends through Skype voice call. And now I am not shy to talk with strangers. Work hard. Good luck.

Gaia, you should not worry about speaking so much. Your pronunciation will improve over time and one day you'll be fluent! Pronunciation also don't matter as much as you think, a lot of people here in the United States speak accented English and it is okay. Personally, I think accents add character to the language :) You should continue to speak as much as you can, and I recommend getting some language partners on here to help you out! Good luck and Thank you for wanting to learn English!
