Why I Can't Find A Language Exchanger? With China economy has increased faster and faster, foreigners would like to develop their business and get more opportunities. So I think probably I can find some native English speakers to do language exchange. And, to be honest, I rarely meet with some foreigners would like to do it. I live in Shenzhen, and I can meet foreigners every day. Probably you can make some western friends, but it's not easy for me to find a language exchange via websites. I talked about this with my American friend, we figured that maybe 1) Foreigners would like to find a real-Chinese-teacher for help, not doing language exchange. 2)They have learnt some Chinese before they came here. So they don't really need a Chinese to practice. Anyways, that's what I think. Do you feel the same way as I do? Any suggestions?

Why Can't I Find a Language Exchanger?

With China's economy growing faster and faster, foreigners would like to develop their businesses and get more opportunities; so I think I can probably find some native English speakers to do language exchanges with. To be honest, I rarely meet foreigners who would like to do it.

I talked about this with my American friend, and we figured that maybe 1) foreigners would like to find a real Chinese teacher for help and not do a language exchange, or 2) they learned some Chinese before they came here, so they don't really need a Chinese person to practice with.

Anyways, that's what I think. Do you feel the same way I do? Any suggestions?

Nice job. I think you just gotta keep looking; China's one of the most-studied languages precisely for the reasons you say (business and culture).

Some bars or clubs like to organize language groups where people learning or wanting to practice a language can go and mingle with foreigners or locals, it's sounds like something a foreigner willing to meet people and practice the language would go to, check your local websites or billboards for opportunities (I don't know if meetup.com works in China).
