Let It Rain Over Me Yesterday the weather was so hot that I nearly fainted. Actually, hot is not the proper word to describe what is the weather like over here; boiling or burning would be more accurate, I believe. My brain was melting inside my scull, and my face was wet with sweat although I was wearing a sun hat and applying sunscreen cream on my skin. Worse than that was the humidity; it was about 52%. When I got home and untied my hair, I felt a wave of warmth escaped from under my hands. My hair was hot and sticky. To me, walking in the streets was like being in hell... I have never got accustomed to this weather even though I have been living here my whole life. Maybe I do not like summer because I was born in winter. The weather used to be better, cooler, and more tolerable. One reason for this terrible weather in summer is that the major river, which runs through the city, has almost dried out. You can see many cracks in the bed of the river, and there are also bushes of some wild plants growing there. The volume of water in the river was so huge in the past that the city had experienced many floods. It has decreased substantially now due to severe droughts and lack of management. The river is like a half- dead body of a once wild lion in a desert, waiting for the rain to fall. Unlike the summer season, the spring has always been nice and pleasant here. I remember running about the yard of our house last spring. The yard is not very big, but there is enough space in it for me to walk and run. I recall how the cool, lovely air tempted me to run for two hours. Occasionally, a short drizzle along with a cold wind made my hair and face wet. I loved it and was not worried about catching a cold because it seldom rains here. I really miss grey clouds, rain, fine spring air, lightening, showers, drizzles, and everything which helps me forget burning summer days. I am impatiently waiting for the end of summer and the beginning of autumn too. Autumn is beautiful just like rain is.

'Lightning' is the bolt of electricity in a storm. 'Lightening' is the present participle of the verb 'to lighten', to make lighter in color or weight.

Ellie, England is an amazing place to live. I love its cloudy weather, green plains, and high cliffs. distant_relative, the weather bureau announced that that was just a rumor, but I can't believe that it was a rumor. I think people in Bandar Mahshahr really experienced that horrible weather. The weather forecasters never announce the real temperature. For example, when they say that the temperature is 45 C I am sure that they are not telling the truth :) Fortunately, most buses here are equipped with air-conditioning. so, I don't feel the heat when I'm on the bus. I seldom turn my room air-conditioner off in the summer days :)

I just read that the heat index in Bandar Mahshahr was 73.3 C (164F), the second-highest ever recorded. How do people survive in that weather? I hope you have air-conditioning.
