I beg to disagree with the explanation above
“As” is an adverb while “like” is a verb (like is also used for comparisons).
We tend to use them interchangeable a lot but that does not make it correct, as there is a difference.
As a kid, my clothes were always dirty (I was actually a kid when playing outside)
Like a kid, my clothes are dirty (I am not a kid in this sentence)
Check online for better explanation, but they are not the same

"Yo estoy en la universidad como tú", "i´m in the university like/as you" = I'm in the university like you / as you are
"me gusta el chocolate como a ti", "i like chocolat like/as you" = I like chocolate like you / as you do
"quiero ser tan fuerte como tu" "i want to be as strong like/as you" = I want to be strong like you / I want to be as strong as you are
