Dad, so I said. We will live here, period. (We would probably say: We will live here and that's that or and that's final.)

I tried to make it sound more natural like Neil has done, but if I were to translate word for word, it would sound very strange.

I have not attempted to translate word for word.  I have tried to convey the same meaning in colloquial, natural English.

Comment:  "shit" is <em>very</em> strong.  I am not sure, but I don't think that "блин" is that strong.  Another possibility for "блин" is "Damn!"  Even milder, "Darn!"
