How to study a language in a better way.

I readed (read is the way you spell the present and past tense saying of the verb) that the best way to learn a language is to change the mode of leaning.
I study English with a book "Grammar World": do the exercises and translate all the unknown words. I then write they down in my vocabulary.
I write new words with translations and transcriptions of pronuncation on the leafs and on a board and put them on the places, where I can see them often.
Best wishes,
Natalija.
