Stagnation I start to feel stagnation in my life. It is not about my family but about a career. After a failing attempt to start a business in 2014-2015 I had a long time to find a job (thanks to economic troubles). I started to learn programming, joined network administration courses, changed my speciality to software testing in IT security field, returned to study English... Anything to get well-being for my family. And I found a good job. I dreamt a lot about this company before... And I stopped. I work well, I get good feedbacks on my results. But I stopped an improving of myself. My programming skills are stopped on the May-June level. I still have a problems with English speaking and listening, so I can't pass nor TOEFL or GRE with good result. I know this is hard times in my country and I should be happy to have any job. I want a progress, I want to continue my education, my study, to get high-demanded skills. And I have some concerns. Just imagine: you spent years and years to get high qulified speciality and... no one needs you. Because it is the crisis or because low-qualified employees are more needable. Like soviet engineers and scientists after the fall of USSR were redundant in the new system... My mother told me:"Get a C drive license(for trucks). Who knows what would be..." Maybe she was right)))))) Sorry for a decadent text, I think it is because of the early autumn)))

Stagnation

I  am starting to feel stagnation in my life. It is not about my family but about a career. After a failed attempt to start a business in 2014-2015  it took me  a long time to find a job (due to the   economic troubles). I started to learn programming, joined network administration courses, changed my speciality to software testing in IT security field, returned to study English... Anything to  achieve  well-being for my family. And I found a good job. I dreamt a lot about this company before...
And I stopped. I work well, I get good feedbacks on my results. But I stopped an improving of myself. My programming skills are stopped on the May-June level. I still have a problems with English speaking and listening, so I can't pass nor TOEFL or GRE with a good result. I know this is hard times in my country and I should be happy to have any job.
I want a progress, I want to continue my education, my study, to get skills that are in high demand. And I have some concerns. Just imagine: you spent years and years to get high qulified speciality and... no one needs you. Because it is the crisis or because low-qualified employees are more in demand. IT's ok Mclo, maybe you are right and it is the feeling we all get at the end of the summer. Or maybe you are just tired and lost your motivation.

I am sure it's just a phase, and you will get back on track with your studies again.

Good luck!

I think learning English is easy and fun. I am an English language lover myself, so I guess I never thought it was particularly hard. But if you need someone to prep you for a test or certificate, my advice to you is to find someone experienced and get serious. Every time you learn something new and improve your knowledge, you are one step closer to your TOEFL, and that means a step closer to your dreams. Find a good tutor here on italki who has experience in tutoring for a specific certificate. I myself am not very experienced in that area, and I wouldn't want you to fail because of me. Good luck! :)

Vanja, I agree with you! Not give up is only way to achieve anything. Do you know a way to get the ball rolling in study English?

I can completely relate to this. I feel like I have wasted two years of my life doing absolutely nothing. I still haven't gotten my diploma in teaching English, I moved back home so I wouldn't spend too much money (which I don't have). I am turning 26 this October and I'm still taking money from my parents. Sometimes I don't feel like getting up in the morning. BUT, the most important thing is not to give up, never to give up on your dreams, on your plans, on whatever you want to achieve. Nobody has it figured out, and it's ok, because we are all different individuals with different abilities and needs. Don't give up! Your English is quite nice, by the way. Keep practicing, I'm sure you'll pass your TOEFL soon :)
