Answer to a letter
Hi! I'm preparing the PET exam, one excercise said :
"This is a part of a letter you have receved from a British friend:
I went to a great restaurant with my family last night. Which do you prefer: eating at home or in restaurants? Tell me about your favourite place to eat"
Here is my answer:
Dear friend,
How are you? I hope you're well. In short, I like both!.. On the one hand, you can have a good time at home with your family or friends cooking and eating, but, on the other hand, it can be much simpler and more relaxing to go out to a restaurant. I like to chat with my friends and family whilst ordering and waiting for the meal.
I can't decide what is my favourite: There is either this great little fish restaurant down town where we sometimes go to celebrate or the place nearby that we go regularly because its such a great atmosphere.
Maybe it doesn't matter if you enjoy the meal and are with good people.
Best wishes,
Fran
There are different ways to write, depending on who you are talking / writing to. A letter to a friend should be very informal, so I have offered up some less formal ways of saying what you have put.
Sometimes things will be contracted, but other times you need to expand on things too...!
I hope this helps. This isn't a 'correction', as such: your writing was very good! It was very formal, though. This is a difficult task! :)
