Do Not Disturb the Family I watched 'Stoker' on a recommendation from my friend (she said it was her favourite film of all times). And it left me absolutely confused. I did appreciate it as a work of art: Its cinematography is probably one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. And every detail in the film is well thought-out so it creates a very specific atmosphere that immediately draws you in. But the characters and the relationships between them are sick. And there is one particular point that I don't understand: How could Charlie (the main character's uncle), who spent most of his life locked up in a mental institution, become such a good psychologist, and learn how to behave in the society (and with women in particular)? And it is difficult (at least for me) to say who really is the main character of the film, because at some point Charlie's lifestory and character start to prevail, and India appears to be his victim. Anyways, I'm not a film critic and I'm not very good when it comes to analysing works of art, so what I've written here is just my personal opinion. For me, this film is one of those with a beautiful shell and rotten contents. And it seems like my friend and I now have something interesting to discuss.
