Letter for my American friend Hi Ann Sorry for late answering. I was very busy. Of course, firstly I'd like very much to thank you for inviting me to your birthday's party. I really liked it. Your idea of a candy bar is just wonderful! Actually, I'm glad that I attended American's birthday party. American holidays are very different from the Russian holidays. By the way, did you like my gift? You opened it already? I chose it for a long time for you. Now tell me about his trip to New York. You told me you were going to study here. You wanted to see college in New York? Or do you simply want to have a rest? How long will be you stay in New York? It would be great if you could be photographed against The Empire State Building and The Statue of Liberty. I'd like to look at these photos. Please write back as soon as you can.

Letter for my American friend

Hi Ann
Sorry for answering late but I have been very busy. Firstly I'd like to thank you for inviting me to your birthday party. I really liked it. Your idea of a candy bar is just wonderful! Actually, I'm glad that I attended an American's birthday party. American holidays are very different from the Russian holidays.

By the way, did you like my gift? Have you already opened it? It took me a long time to choose it for you.

Now tell me about this trip to New York. You told me you were going to study here. Did you want to see a college in New York or do you simply want to have a rest? How long will you be staying in New York? It would be great if you could be photographed against The Empire State Building and The Statue of Liberty. I'd like to look at these photos.

Hello Juno,

First of all I could understand everything in your letter, so well done. In the first line we would normally use the present perfect for an action continuing up until the present moment.

In the last paragraph you are using the future continuous for a longer action in the future. The answer will be 'I will be staying in NY for 1 week' so you need to invert 'will' and the person to make the question.

Hope this helps

Bob
