Ashley Cristiano
Lesson 1 Trial Session (Learning Korean) 무어 means what 직업 means occupation 지미 means hobby 그리다 means to draw (verb) 그림 means drawing (noun) 미술 means art (subject in school) 미 means something beautiful or beauty 가르치다 means to teach (verb) I'm not sure what 가르쳐요 means though. Can anyone help? Is that the noun from of teaching? I learned about pronouncing 에 versus 애 (에 you only open the mouth a little bit and with 애 you open the mouth more). I learned how to introduce myself in Korean: 제 이름은 애슐리 입니다. This is a formal way to say my name is Ashley. The informal way to say my name is Ashley is: 제 이름은 애슐리에요. And the very informal way to say it would be: 내 이름은 애슐리야. I learned that it (the sentence before the last one) has the 에요 ending because it (my name) ends with a vowel. If it ended with a consonant, it would have the 이에요 ending. I learned how to say I am an art teacher: 저는 미술 선생님이에요 or I could say more informally 나는 미술 선생님이야. I also learned to say my hobby is drawing: 제 치미는 그림이에요. In addition, I learned to ask what is your hobby: 치미가 무엇이에요? I had no idea that in the Korean language the verb is at the end of the sentence! How cool! I can also introduce my dad: 제 아버지 이름은 존이에요 or more informally 제 아버지 이름은 전이야.
