Khandevane The Khandevane TV show has attracted a lot of attention these days. Khandevane which translates to "Laughmelon" (a play on laughter and watermelon) is hosted by Rambod Javan (translates to young angle!) and is in part based on a standup comedy competition. Comedians most of who were well-known previously for acting in series now compete in a knock-out standup contest and get voted by people by means of text messages. This show is broadcast on a channel which is having a hard time rivaling sattelite channels which are free from the state censorship. A puppet accompanys Javan with a southern Iranian accent who sings many folklore songs which is regarded by many people an attempt to make Iranian ethnicities more united.
