Answer:

Tricky one this one. You must say cup of tea but a cup of tea is actually served in a mug. Mug just meaning a cup with a small handle.

What's the difference between "cup" and "mug" ?
I'll have a cup of tea.

I'll have a mug of tea.

Which is the right word? Both?

 

In this example, "cup" is the right word. 

A "mug" is what tea is served in, but you will use "cup" to state that you would like tea. 

I'll have a cup of tea. 

May I have a cup of tea?
