GOLDEN AGE During XVI and XVII centuries an important cultural boom took place in Spain. Kings acted like as patrons of architects, painters and scultors. During this time lived and highlighted important authors such as Miguel de Cervantes who wrote "El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha", Lope de Vega, Calderón de la Barca y Fray Luis de León. Also an important painters such as Velázquez, El Greco, Murillo, Ribera and Zurbarán. For this reason Golden Age name was given to this time.
