Indirect speech in english (conditional form??) I have to translate a german text into english. It's a newspaper article and a policeman is interviewed. He says: -the media is bias against the policemen and jumps to conclusions too quickly - the everday dangers are seldomly mentioned (If you know german: "Anson findet, dass auch die Medien voreingenommen gegenüber der Polizei seien - und viel zu schnell urteilen würden. Die alltäglichen Gefahren würden nur selten beschrieben.") My question is, if a sentence summing up the facts mentioned above in indirect speech would be formed like so: "Anson thinks that the media is ias against the policemen and jumps to conclusions too quickly. The everyday dangers are seldomly described" or would you use contional form (would be etc. ) ? Please help me out here :) Greetings from Dresden, Max

Indirect speech in <em>English</em> (conditional form??)

I have to translate a <em>German</em> text into <em>English</em>.
It's a newspaper article and a policeman is interviewed.

He says:
-the media is <em>biased</em> against the policemen and jumps to conclusions too quickly
- the everday dangers are seldomly mentioned

(If you know german:
"Anson findet, dass auch die Medien voreingenommen gegenüber der Polizei seien - und viel zu schnell urteilen würden. Die alltäglichen Gefahren würden nur selten beschrieben.")

My question is, if a sentence summing up the facts mentioned above in indirect speech would be formed like so:
"Anson thinks that the media is ias against the policemen and jumps to conclusions too quickly. The everyday dangers are seldomly described"

or would you use contional form (would be etc. ) ?

Please help me out here :)

Greetings from Dresden,

<em>Hi Max.</em>
<em>I would use the present form here the conditional would be wrong. You might use the subjunctive mood though, but it sounds a bit too old-fashioned and formal:</em>
<em>"Anson thinks that the media be against the policemen and jump to conclusions too quickly."  </em>

<em>Hope it helps :)</em>
