Dia duit!

Joseph [or <em>Seosamh</em>, if you prefer] is ainm dom, tá mé an Is Meiriceánach [Irish has two different verbs "to be" (a bit like Spanish) which are used differently. To say what or who someone or something is, you need to use "<em>is</em>". You use "<em>tá</em>" to say where someone or something is or say what they are like]. Ba mhaith liom Gaeilge a fhoghlaim [in subordinate clauses the object is placed before the verb].
