This poem in which the flea is portrayed as a symbol of erotic love is regarded even today as very original poem and still surprise readers who first encounter with this poem. ‘The Flea’ published in1633, two years after John Donne’s death, has made him a master of metaphysical poetry and has become best example of this metaphysical poetry.
