Juan
Sycamore Row I finished reading this book one week ago but I haven't had enough time to write its review until now. Sycamore Row was written by John Gisham who is famous for writing legal thriller books. I read another book of John Grisham once but it was a long time ago and it was the Spanish translated version. So, despite I knew who John Grisham was, Sycamore Row was my first attempt in English-written legal thriller genre. The story is set in a small town of the Mississippi state in the late 80s. Seth Hubbard was a high-flying business man who was found hanging of a tree. One year before, he had been diagnosed with a terminal lung cancer and after trying to fight it unsuccessfully he decided to take his own life to stop his suffering. He was a smart man who had taken off his career again after two nasty divorces in which his wifes had left him with barely nothing. Before committing suicide, he had planned meticulously how his burial would take place and he signed a new holographic. In this will he resigned an older will which had been developed by a prestigious law firm, cut off his sons and grandsons and gave the 90% of his state to his black maid who was called Lettie Lang. Lettie had been working for him for the last three years. As well as doing all housework tasks, she had been Seth's care-giver lately but she hadn't expected inheriting such amount of money from his boss at all. As it was expected, Seth's sons hired a lawyer in order to prove that his father hadn't had testamentary capacity due to his daily painkillers intake. So, a jury trial took place in order to determine Seth's holographic will validity.

Hello Juan,

First of all well done for reading a book designed for native speakers, that does take a lot of doing. Your review of the book is good, the main problems seem to be with prepositions, take care people often get 'for' and 'of' mixed up. I have rewritten one part as it is more natural in English. (Green) In the first yellow part 'meticulously' is an adverb and adverbs normally come in front of the main verb (except 'be') In the second yellow there is a patter to learn - expect to + infintive.

Hope this helps

Great review Juan! My corrections are in red and my suggestions to sound more natural are in blue/grey
