The biggest environmental disaster in Brazil.
This month, we have had a big disaster in Minas Gerais State, involving the dam where the waste from iron mining was reserved. The dam broke and the water with iron waste destroyed a villa in Mariana town, many people died. The waste ended up in the Doce River.
The river is contaminated and the waste flowed into the sea in Espirito Santo State. Many fish, birds and turtles die. Fishermen can’t fishing and earn their money. Many cities in Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo don’t have water in their faucets (taps). People don’t have water to drink.
Now the waste goes on to the northeast of Brazil, the Samarco mining and government don’t know what happened to the dam. Greed kills people and nature.
Hello Evandro,
I have seen this in the news and you are right, it is a terrible situation for Brazil and the world. We need to learn how this happened to stop it from happening in the future. Anyone at fault also needs to pay in full for the consequences of this disaster.
There are a few mistakes with your English, a couple of parts I reworded to make it more natural. Remember that 'can' is a modal verb and modal verbs are always followed by a bare infinitive verb.
Hope this helps
