I'm looking forward to learning Dutch!

Jemmy, it's important to look for certain words ("signaalwoorden") such as "dat", "die", "omdat", "want" etc.

Some examples, the "bijzin" is marked by [ and ] :

Ik spreek Nederlands, [omdat ik in Nederland geboren ben.]  --> I speak Dutch [because I was born in the Netherlands.]
Ik sprak gisteren met een man, [die pas vijf jaar in Nederland woont.] --> Yesterday I spoke to a guy [who has only been living in the Netherlands for the past five years.]

The main idea is that the "hoofdzin" contains the most important information and the "bijzin" or "bijzinnen" contain(s) all the additional information.

Two "bijzinnen":

Het boek, [dat van mijn moeder is], heb ik nog niet uitgelezen, [omdat ik gisteren geen zin had om te lezen.]
I haven't finished reading the book, [which belongs to my mother], [because I didn't feel like reading anything yesterday.]

Hope this helps.
