Once you have registered as an italki user, you can create a payment account. When you create a payment account, you will need to input more information and create a Persinal Identification Number Code (PIN). This is to protect your payment account from unauthorized transactions.

A payment account allows you to purchase italki credits also known as ITC.

Teachers on italki are paid in italki credits (ITC). Teachers set their own hourly teaching rates, which you can view on the language teachers page. When a lesson is successfully completed, italki credits are transferred to the teacher's account. There is a fixed exchange rate between italki credits and US Dollars.

It is important to note that buying italki credits, italki's payment partners will charge a processing fee. This fee is generally between 0.5% and 3%, and will depend on which service is used, and the specific terms of the country and company.
