Once you have received session requests from students, you can now choose to accept the request.
Here is what a Session Request looks like:

We recommend looking at the students profile and getting a sense of who the student is.
In order to minimize surprises and misunderstandings, we do recommend that students and teachers try to at least contact each through italki email or through chat ahead of time. This is one reason to offer a free first lesson - this allows the students and the teachers to assess if they would be a good match. A free first lesson will not have a positive or negative impact on your rating.

Please check to make sure you are satisfied with the time of the lesson. Once you agree to the time, both the teacher and the student are required to have the lesson then. If a student or teacher does not show up, then the student or teacher will get a mark placed on their profile.

It is just important to confirm that both teachers and students know what tool they are planning to use to communicate with each other.
italki recommends using Skype, a very popular voice and video chat software in the United States. It is free for computer-to-computer video and audio calls. Since italki is not responsble for the quality of the connection, it is important that both teacher and student use the best communication tool they have.
If the lesson is confirmed, then you and the teacher have agreed to have a lesson on italki!
It is crucial that you do not accept sessions that you cannot fulfill. If you do not show up for a schedule class, you will receive a mark on your profile, and you will receive a negative rating for that lesson. As a teacher you are not obligated to accept any requests. However, if we find that a teacher never accepts requests, that teacher account may turned "inactive".
