Aesthetic Judgement

“Studies have shown if people are given complete freedom to choose the setting of their homes and offices, they gravitate toward an environment that combines three features…. People want to be on a height looking down, they prefer park land to look at, savannah-like terrain with scattered trees, and they want to be next to a body of water, such as a river or lake…even if these elements are purely aesthetic and not at all functional.”

Glossary Terms Used
Ideograph – A character or figure symbolizing the idea of a thing, as the Chinese characters and most Egyptian hieroglyphics.
Biophilia – A term coined by Professor Wilson to describe humankind’s innate affiliation with nature.
Mendeleyev – Dmitry Ivanovich Mendeleyev, (1834 –1907), Russian chemist, best known for his development of the periodic law of the properties of the chemical elements. This law states that elements show a periodicity (regular pattern) of properties when they are arranged according to atomic weight.
