How to select the right Chinese language for business?

If you are working in Beijing or Shanghai, you should learn Chinese(Mandarin).

If you are working in Gangdong, you would prefer learn Cantonese.

The advices above are for pronounciation.

But if you are working in Taiwan, you should have to learn Chinese(Traditional) for reading and for writing.

Learn Putonghua, if you want to learn a local fangyan (dialect) it would be a great bonus for you but no matter WHAT, if you're going to China (or Taiwan) learn Putonghua (Mandarin)!!!

No need to learn Cantonese. Our office in Guangzhou and just old people and some drivers can't speak putonghua.
