Often I hear british and (most of all) american people say italian words like nove (nine) or perchè (why/because) as if they were written (in english) like no-vay and per-kay. That's bad and it's the best way to let other understand that you're british or american.
The difficulty depends on the fact that in english there's no word with a final accented 'e'
Pronouncing final 'e' is very simple
Think to the english word set and try to say it without the final 't'. That is, block your tongue and breath on the 'e' before the 't'.
Done? Ok, that's like an italian final 'e' must sound!
Now that you have learnt the trick, try to exercise with some few words:
dove=where
come=how/as/like
assente=absent
mente=mind
dente=tooth
latte=milk
cose=things
P.S.: I didn't distinguish closed 'e' from open 'e', because their different use depends on local speech and don't change word meaning as in english.
Generally, italian final 'e' is closed, anyway (infact, in the example, I used the word set to be clearer, and nearer to the real pronunciaton)
