1、爱面子：（ài miàn zi ）怕损害自己的体面，让别人看不起。 be sensitive about one's reputation

例：

有错误就承认，不要爱面子。

2、半边天：（bàn biān tiān）妇女　Women

例：

妇女能顶半边天。（Women hold up half the sky）

3、爆冷门：（bào lěng mén） ①不被人注意的领域里出了引人注目的人或事 ②比赛中弱者出人意料的取得了好成绩 produce an unexpected winner; a dark horse bobbing up

例：

本届乒乓球比赛大爆冷门，两名乒乓坛新秀战胜了上届的世界冠军，夺得了金牌。　

4、炒鱿鱼：（chǎo yóu yú）指解雇;因鱿鱼一炒就卷起来,所以用“炒鱿鱼”比喻卷铺盖。get fire

例：

他被老板炒了鱿鱼。

5、穿小鞋：（chuān xiǎo xié）比喻受到别人利用职权暗中给予的刁难、报复或施加的约束、限制。　make things hard for sb.

例：

不许给提意见的人穿小鞋。
