Learn English for free using Italki resources

Hi, here are 8 easy steps for learning English using Italki resources.

1. Click onto Learn English at the bottom left hand side of this Italki page. Then click onto the Quick links such as Knowledge or Resources for helpful lessons.

2. You will see the number of Quick Links. They indicate the number of resources such as vocab and grammar in your language created by Italki members. For learning English go to: http://www.italki.com/knowledge/Learn-english-english.htm. You can also learn English in your own language.

3. If you are a beginner, click onto Language Teachers on the pink band on the top left hand side of this Italki page. Go through the Language Teachers' prices. Email an English teacher. Look at: http://www.italki.com/teachers/English . Click onto Courses and Products as well. Here is a friendly English native teacher for you to contact

5.If you need language practice, click onto Language Partners on the pink band on the top left hand side of this page and see if there is an English speaker you can email to set up a time to practice at http://www.italki.com/partners/English You can also click in someone who speaks your language as well.

6. Click onto Groups on the pink band on the top right hand side of this page and look at the groups you want to join for learning English. For example: Improve your English Group:

7. If you want to post items for discussion you can Click onto Answers and Notebook in the middle of the pink band on this page.

EDITING ANSWERS, QUESTIONS, ETC ON ITALKI

NEW ITALKI FORMAT If you want someone to follow you/be your friend

When you want someone to follow you, click on the "Message" button that appears next to the Follow/Unfollow button. Then this message will appear: "Please write a quick introduction to yourself. Let this person know how you can help them with your native language, and how you're interested in their language and culture!

Once this person follows you, you'll be able to send direct messages and chat"

Click 'Send' and you will be sending a follower request NOT a message.

BLACKBOARD

To write on someone's Blackboard, first click onto the person's photo and then onto User's Profile. Scroll down until you see Blackboard, then write. Be aware that some people have adjusted their privacy settings , so that only their Friends or Followers can write on their Blackboard.

To delete your Blackboard posts, click onto Home and then Recent Updates you will see on the left. On the right you will see Blackboard. Click onto it and then scroll down to all your own Blackboard posts. Using your mouse, click onto the right hand side corner where you see a cross, then delete the post. If you want to post a new message on your Blackboard, go back to the top where you see Post on your Blackboard.

MESSAGES

You can send and delete messages. Just go to your inbox and you will find how. The address is: http://www.italki.com/inbox/messages.htm

NOTEBOOK ENTRIES

After posting, you can comment, correct or delete it. To comment or correct it, just go to your notebook entry. To delete it, click on the X correspondent at the address: http://www.italki.com/notebook/myentries.htm

CORRECTING NOTEBOOK ENTRIES

Click on "correct this entry" - the pink button, it doesn't work in the "Answer this question" or "Add a comment" button. When you have your dialogue box there, if you look at the top you'll see the "B I U abc (crossed out) "A" " The "A" with a line underneath it, is what you need to use, it's the text colour icon.

Type your text, and highlight the selection of text which you want to be in a different colour, then click the "A" icon and select red - or whichever colour you want to use. Click onto Submit.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

You can add more details or comments to your questions, but not delete them. The address is: http://www.italki.com/answers/myanswers.htm

GROUPS A group post is a topic or topics, posted by people who belong to a certain group. For example, you can join a group of people here who talks with one another using English- then post or write a topic that you wanted to share with them.

FRIENDS

To add people to your friends' list

You can find a person who you want to add by going to his/her homepage. There is an "add as Friend" button. Click it and sent a request to him/her.

To delete a friend:

Press the "Friends" tab in the top right corner, locate him/her and press the drop down menu and lick 'delete'.

To cancel your italki account

To cancel your italki account, run your mouse pointer over your name at the top of this page, click onto Settings, and on the page that appears choose Account Deactivation from the menu.
