Practical Practice

Edit

Regularly

Any activity that you want to be good at requires a regular contact with that activity. In the case of language, there must be a daily practice session, either in real life or through short, planned sessions. Don’t try to study an hour every day, do try to spend a few minutes several times a day.

Edit

Repeat

• You see it or hear it once, you will forget it.

• You see it or hear it twice, it will sound familiar.

• You see it or hear it three or more times and it becomes yours.

• Repeat everything at least three times!

Edit

Review

Ask yourself these two questions:

 “What have I studied today?”

 “Why have I studied it?”

Edit

Reward

Make sure you “pat yourself on the back” for work well done. If you have learned something new, use it with satisfaction. If you have studied hard, go buy yourself an icecream. Take yourself out to the movies (see the film in English!) Say to yourself “good work!” We are all Pavlov’s dog!
