    You use "going to" not only for a prediction based on what you can see now, but any kind of present evidence (including what you can hear or smell).

    It is going to rain.

    it is going to rain..

    Both are correct, both are you used

     

    When you make a prediction based on something that you can see now, use 'going to'.

    It is going to rain.
