Are these Cantonese words the following Mandarin words?

I just read my fist Cantonese lesson today and I just want to check these words are what I am thinking the Mandarin words would be. I was a little confused as I thought Cantonese was written with the same words as mandarin just in traditional hanzi. But if the following words are what I think then clearly I was wrong lol.

Am I correct in thinking that..好- is the Cantonese version of 很, 都-is the Cantonese version of 也 and 係-is the Cantonese version of 是?

yup! you are right, in Cantonese 好substitute 很,都or 又substitute 也 ,係or 系or 喺 substitutewrited 是。Cantonese use words as mandarine. the most difference is pronunciation, and there is some difference in actual usage. in Hongkong and Macau, the people used traditional chinese for Cantonese. the people live in guangdong who speak Cantonese use simple chinese for Cantonese. You may learn mandarine mainly. Cantonese is more harder than mandarine in pronunciation, and most of the people who speak cantonese can understand mandarine except for some old people.
