バリアフリーの意味は何ですか。What does 'barrier free' mean???

これ説明は日本語教科書からです。2回読んでいたが、まだちょっと
分からない。
教えてください!

つまり、障壁と取りのぞいてどのような人でも安心して暮らせるようにした環境のこと。もとは建築用語で、身体に障害を持っている人や高齢者のために段差をなくすとか、手すりをつけるとか、使いやすい台所にする、などのことを言う。

    It's an environmental term. Originally, it meant a house that was built in a way that was convenient for the wheel chair users. For instance, eliminating uneven floor levels, widening the hallways, etc. When you say "a barrier-free society," it means that a city is built in a way that is convenient for all disabled people including blind people and the elderly. google "barrier-free environments" and "disabled"
