What are best resources/books to learn French?

Well, if you search "French" on About.com it's got tons of wonderful resources. But you shouldn't only use that site. But it helps with grammar and things of the sort and vocabulary as well.
Maybe you should try some realy easy, but funny things such as watching French movies in original version (depending on witch kind of movies you like, I can advise) or reading some children books as "club des 5" or 'le petit nicolas".
