In terms of what? Grammar? Speaking? Writing? Japanese and Chinese(Mandarin) are completely different, with a few similarities. The Japanese language consists of three writing systems: Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. Chinese languages only consist of one, which is Chinese characters. A lot of the Kanji still have the same meanings: 雨(rain),小便(urine),日语(Japanese[language]),日本人(Japanese). Many times one can *guess* what a phrase or sentence means if the characters have the same meaning (that's what I do!) Others don't, i.e. 先生 means "teacher" in Japanese, but "Mr." in Chinese. As for Hiragana and Katakana, those are another story since they don't exist in any Chinese language.

As for as grammar, the Japanese sentence structure is: Sentence - Object - Verb, while in Mandarin its: Subject + Verb + Object. Japanese has particles and word endings like in Chinese, and neither language has words like "a" and "the". The subject can be omitted in many cases in both languages so I guess that can be easy for Chinese people. As for writing, Chinese people don't have to learn the stroke order for Kanji(since they already know it!) but they will have to learn the new meanings of other words and learn how to write Hiragana and katakana.

I guess it just depends on the person. One Chinese might find it extremely difficult while other might find it very easy. To learn a language, one has to fully dedicate themselves and be motivated to do so. Even if you speak a language that is nothing like Japanese, you can still learn it if you really wanted to ^^

I think Japanese is easy for Chinese people to learn only in the begining.

    No i don't think.
