Q1.
fail an exam = sup tok.
sup=exam, tok=fail.

in this case, for ex, I fail an exam = phom sup tok?
I think "phom tok sup" with view of English grammar, like S+V+O

Q2. Can = dai 's location.
I can speak Thai = phom poot pasa thai dai.

สอบตก can't say it is V+O

soobtok is a word, a compound word, you can't separate them.
itz one word with 2 sillable.
    others similar words
soobtok=soobmaipaan= tok = fail, fail the exame.

    2) dai's location
    I can't remember all.
    1. phom jam mai dai tangmot
    2. phom jam tangmot mai dai.

normally it will be at the end of the sentence, but*** not alway*
the given example are the witness. both are correct.

    the rule are.
    1) what you can do? verb + dai
    negtive verb+....mai dai

    the sentences
I can speak Thai a little = phom poot pasa thai dai nit noi.
I can speak Thai = phom poot pasa thai dai.

the word a little is make the the sentence longer, and it to more detail, that a person can speak, yes but how good, so, it need more explaination. after Can (Dai)

Therefore, this make you confuse, atually it still at the end of the Verb+dai

    can eat,= gin dai
can eat not much = gin dai mai maak
    can speak= poot dai
    can speak fluent= pootdai klong.

    so, you say ?
the rest are explaining *how good, bad, one's can do*

    Come-sa-mi-da (thx)
