Sentence Structure for Complex Sentences

I know I just asked one, but I just have to get these off my chest since they have been bothering me for some time now; especially this lovely question.
I have come to my Korean where I learned how to write complicated sentences (accept for when you want a verb to turn into a noun) and I can't get it straight anymore. My textbook I have is a little helpful but I still had problems with it when I was learning it (believe me, learning 2 semesters worth of Korean in 6 weeks when not using it/learning it for 3 years is quite difficult ><), too.

So could someone help me with sentences like these?:
1. I'm sorry I wasn't able to turn in my paper on time.
2. I'm not home right now so I will give you the notes when I get back.
3. Did you hear about Jenny failing her midterm?

All I remember is that the subject is first in the sentence and the first verb is last in the sentence... My Korean friends get confused when I try to make complex sentences now so I never talk to them. I hope someone can help me! 고마워요!!!

    Let's just break down your sentence into smaller ones first.

    I'm sorry I wasn't able to turn in my paper on time
    = ①I'm sorry + ②(the reason why)I wasn't able to turn in my paper on time
    ① = 죄송해요
    ② = 그 이유는....

    (here, the reason why)
    ①I ⑤wasn't able to ④turn in ③my paper ②on time
    ① = subject, 나는 or 제가
    ② = 제시간에(adverb)
    ③ = 리포트를(object)
    ④ = 제출하다
    ⑤ = to be able to(~ 할 수 없다)
    ④ + ⑤ = was able to turn in = 제출하다 + 할 수 없다 = 제출할 수 없었다(predicate)

    The word order would be ....subejct....(adverb)...object....predicate.....
    = 나는(subject) 제시간에(adverb) 리포트를(object) 제출 할 수 없었다(predicate)

    Adding "I am sorry" to "the reason why"
    I am sorry that..... = ~ 해서(the reason) 죄송해요

    나는......제출할 수 없었다 + ~ 해서 죄송해요.
    = 나는......없었다 + 해서 죄송해요
    = 나는......없어서 죄송해요

    Making it more nature, 나는...못해서 죄송해요.

    In most cases subjects are left out when they are quite obvious in contexts.
    (나는)....못 해서 죄송해요.
    = 제시간에 레포트를 제출하지 못해서 죄송해요.^^/

    The second one can be broken down into three smaller ones.
    ①I'm not home right now ③so I will give you the notes ②when I get back.

    The third one would be...
    ⑤Did you hear about ①Jenny ④failing ②her ③midterm?
