Is there a difference between "보고싶다" and "보고싶어"?
Also, what's "다" used for?

-다 is basic form of korean sentense, or in case you say yourself, or say to somebody who is same or under your age. it cannot use for 보고싶다?, because it's basic form.
and... we generally use verb + 아/어/해 + (요)
보고싶어. is not question, and 보고싶어? is question. both are 반말 doesn't have respect meaning for age. so must not use to older people.

Actually, it's not difference. But, 보고 싶어. is usually used for friendly and conversational expression.
and 보고 싶다.. it can be used for any expression. but it contains unfriendly feeling.
