My friend is not present at his home, maybe he is at work. (sorry for my bad English ^^)

I'd like to expand on what someone has said. It's better to say:"我的朋友不在家，(他)可能上班去了" without "他", for the reason being: you've already mentioned "我的朋友", so when you say "不在家" the listener already knows who you are talking about. Actually, you could even say: "我的朋友不在家，可能上班去了". Mandarin is not like English where you have to constantly include the subject in every sentence. It can sound too redundant and not natural.
You'd better add a dot at the same place as the English sentence and translate the word "present" .And the "his" is not quite necessary. The result can be"我的朋友现在不在家，他可能去上班了"
