It is not used as much today as in years before, but it is still used. It would not be thought strange at all if you said it.

You can say both. Australians say "no problem " or "no worries"

"You're welcome" is more formal and used more often. "Don't mention" implies some pretense shyness. In a sense like "aaahhhh, you make me blush."
