well think both means the same thing like in english when we ask what is ur job or ur career the difference that i can tell that i used ما هو عملك ؟ = what is ur job ? in daily life quite often than ماهي مهنتك ؟ what is ur career ?
مهنه aslo means occupation, especially one in which the skill of the hands is needed
